Soup for saige
A promotional card for Vancouver, BC-based Queer BIPOC safe space and food share;
Saige Food Bank & Community Kitchen
Soup for Saige is a promotional postcard for Saige Community Food Share Society (formerly known as Saige Community Food Bank).
SCFSS is a food share in Vancouver, BC that is a low-barrier, Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender Diverse safe space. It was an idea that come up with after being suggested by a transgender woman struggling to access food banks due to identification issues.
I chose to depict 3 characters of varying ethnicities with no defined gender to highlight SCFSS's commitment to helping indigenous and gender diverse communities in their area. The widely known Indigenous dish, Three Sister soup, is made from corn, beans, and squash which are grown together in a symbiotic relationship using a traditional Indigenous companion planting method.

Media used in this piece were plasticine clay that was sculpted by hand, photographed, and then digitally coloured before being collaged together.
The imagery needed to fit the following:
- Warm & Comforting
- Welcoming
- Stable / Consistent
- Inclusive
